Name: Susan Delgado
Age: 16
Canon: Canon - Dark Tower: Wizard & Glass
Key Points: (Content warning for sexual abuse/underage sex)
Childhood: Susan was raised by her father, Pat Delgado, on the edge of a little town called Hambry. She grew up a tomboy with a love of horses, following her father around at his work as a stocktaker. The War: On the periphery of the whole of Susan's life has been the war between the Affiliation (the central government) and John Farson (an asshole). Hambry, being on the periphery of the Affiliation's control, was a centre of a lot of politics. Father's Death: A couple of years ago, her father died. The official story is that he fell off his horse, but Susan now knows he was killed for opposing Farson's influence in the town. Aunt Cordelia: Pat's sister, Cordelia, is a sour, self-serving woman, who also happens to be the last family Susan has left. Since her father's death, Susan lived with Cordelia, although they didn't get on, like, at all. Mayor Thorin: At the age of sixteen, Susan was approached to be the gilly - a kind of socially-sanctioned prostitute - to the mayor of the town. Although she hated the idea, she accepted it as being necessary, with the financial troubles that followed her father's death, and let herself be forced into the arrangement. Roland: It turns out that when two angsty teenagers meet, and one of them is a spy and one is going to become an exclusive prostitute, the worst thing that can happen is for them to fall in love. Guess what Susan did when faced with a fourteen-year-old gunslinger? Pregnancy: About the time she was due to enter the arrangement with Thorin, Susan became aware that she was pregnant with Roland's baby. Charyou Tree: Things went south following her love affair with Roland, and the war caught up with Susan. She ended up captured and, with the townfolk turned against her, burned at the stake in the Reaptide harvest festival.
History:
Susan grew up with her father, until he spoke out against the interests of the town's businessmen; they killed him for it, and said that his horse had thrown him. This left Susan with her aunt, Cordelia. The mayor offered to employ Susan as a side-wife. Susan was against this, for obvious reasons, but Cordelia and the financial situation forced her into accepting.
She had to have her virginity checked by a local witch, Rhea. During this process, Rhea used a magical orb to hypnotise her. Leaving, Susan ran into "Will Dearborn", a fourteen-year-old from the Inner Baronies who said he was there to count cattle. They fell in love, and despite the whole gilly thing, started an affair. During this time, Susan found out that "Will" was actually Roland Deschain, a gunslinger, and was in the town on Affiliation business. She helped him take stock of the town.
After the first time Susan had sex with Roland, Rhea's hypnosis kicked in. Roland woke her just as she was trying to cut off her hair (a spiteful trick played by the witch), then hypnotised her again to investigate. This led to the discovery of the orb, which would be a valuable weapon for Farson. Roland and his friends became caught up in tensions with the Big Coffin Hunters, a pro-Farson group in the town. The Coffin Hunters murdered Mayor Thorin and framed the boys; seeking out Roland's guns, Susan went to rescue the gunslingers from jail. She killed the sheriff and deputy, and fled with the boys, but had to stay behind when they went to fight Farson's forces. But the Coffin Hunters found her, and dragged her back to the town. There, with the town turned against her by Rhea and the Coffin Hunters, it was decided that they would burn her on the Reaptide bonfire. They did that thing. Her dying words were "Roland, I love thee!"
Personality:
Susan is, first and foremost, ruthlessly practical. Once she has decided a thing needs to be done, she goes ahead and does it, without prevaricating. She has a strong ability to swallow her own doubts and do what she thinks is right, even when it's hard. That isn't to say she's not a romantic - she is - or that she never does things she knows to be wrong - she does - but her concerns are mostly rooted in the practical and real. Even her morality is more about the consequences than any lofty philosophy. She's strongly grounded, and tends to see the difficulties ahead with more clarity than a lot of peopleRoland.
She's also a tomboy. Left to her own devices, she'll wear men's clothes, plait her (very long) hair back, and go stamping off around the fields. Although she's pretty, and knows it, she doesn't necessarily like it - it's caused her a lot of trouble, most of all in the whole Thorin situation.
Although she's killed before, and although she carries a knife everywhere for protection, Susan isn't what you'd call a violent person. She hates violence and death, but, with her usual pragmatic approach, recognises that sometimes it's necessary. She doesn't hold strong political views, but rather cares about people; she's a kind person at heart, even if her past has left her rather suspicious of people. What she really wants out of life is small and simple; she wants a family, and freedom, and a home.
She misses her father deeply, and often judges actions by what he would do in that situation. Luckily for the world, Pat Delgado was a very kind and generous person, so she tends to act in kind and generous ways based on that philosophy. Her biggest priority is the people she's close to, above and beyond her own welfare.
At the end of the day, she's a sixteen-year-old girl first and foremost. She has a temper, has mood swings, has points of naivete and childishness. On the other hand, she's also very smart and quick-witted, and fairly mature for her age.
Gem Considerations: Pink kunzite: Pear-shaped, over her belly. Kunzite is a stone of emotion and femininity, reflecting her caring nature. It's also pleochroic, which suits her because she, too, looks different from different angles: the ruthless pragmatist in one view, the hopeless romantic in another. Kunzite is used for maternal protection, which is bitterly ironic given what happened with Susan's pregnancy, and for protection against sexual harrassment in the workplace, which pretty much sums up her entire life. It's a stone of intuition, which is one of Susan's strengths, and the pink is a mean trick to play on her (given that the orb which ruined her goddamn life even further was a transparent pink) because her mun is a dick.
Regarding her character direction, I'd like to see Susan deal with her past, in a place where she isn't constantly at risk. I'd also like for her to find people she can trust, and learn to trust them. Eventually, I'd like her latent gunslinger tendencies to be brought out.And I wanna make Roland faint when he sees her.
Power considerations:
List Three Powers You Would Like Your Character To Have:
Susan won't be affected by the power cap, since she's literally just a sixteen-year-old girl with no powers. Her reaction to gaining powers would obviously vary based on the power, but she'd probably be shocked at first, then take it in stride and adjust her life around it pretty quickly. She's likely to view powers as tools she can use, and to use them as often as they're helpful once she gets her head around it.

- Fire summoning - because I'm a dick with an overdeveloped sense of irony
- Weapon summon - pistol, because she's a gunslinger
SHUT UP YES SHE IS - Psychic resistance - automatic blocking of any mindreading or empathetic powers
